Christopher B. Burke Engineering, LLC has an immediate opening for a Water Resources Project Manager with a minimum of 5 years of experience to join our team. We seek experienced and responsive professionals who are committed to personal service. Qualified individuals must be self-motivated and looking to handle a multitude of various projects. Burke is a full-service civil engineering and environmental firm that can comprehensively meet the needs of both private and public sector clients. Our Civil Design and Water Resources groups focus on a wide range of projects including roadways, parking lots, bike paths, parks, and pedestrian facilities, utility permitting, stormwater management studies and design, floodplain analysis, and permitting and design for a variety of municipalities, counties, and INDOT/LPA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage water resources projects
- Develop, review and comment on water resources studies, technical memoranda, calculations, models, and overall work product
- Lead project planning, project tracking, scope management, change control management, risk management, and quality assurance of project team
- Serve as primary point of communication for client, subconsultants and internal coordination
- Make independent decisions based on analysis, experience and context
- Use value engineering, optimization and judgement from previous experience as well as technical input and contributions from others throughout design process to accomplish goals
- Communicate effectively and coordinates project components with other internal departments through email, meetings, etc.
- Develop proposals and project budgets and ensure projects are completed according to time and budget schedules, and that objectives conform to overall standards and operations objectives and user requirements
- Supervise the completion, quality check and approval of client proposals and contracts
- Maintain compliance with department procedures and standards
- Resolve project conflicts with effective management
- Track projects’ actual expenditures versus planned expenditures
- Review and approve monthly billing invoices and prepares monthly progress report
- Advise client of expenditure status, as needed
- Develop knowledge of water resources and environmental regulations, and water resources engineering best practices and standards by leveraging job experience and attending continuing education training
- Play an active role in business development
- Expand existing network and influence by actively participating in professional organizations, attending networking events, and fostering new relationships that can contribute to potential talent identification and business development opportunities
- Meet with current clients on a regular or as-needed basis to gain feedback on how to further develop and improve the relationship
- Provide mentorship and drive employee development for direct reports
- Participate in and contribute to identifying key talent for the company
- Understand and lead efforts to enforce company policy and procedures
- Other assignments as needed
Key Qualifications:
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering or related field and a minimum 5 years of civil design or water resources experience
- PE license or on PE track preferred
- Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) preferred
- Experience supporting and mentoring engineers
- Proficiency with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software applications including HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, TR-20, SWMM, HY-8, Hydraflow, xpswmm, and other complex models such as FEQ, unsteady state hydraulic models, and 2D modeling
- Proficiency with GIS
- Working knowledge and experience with state and regional stormwater regulations required
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required
- Project experience working with various counties and/or local municipalities
- Valid driver’s license required
