They are currently seeking a highly experienced Director of Health and Safety to join their team and ensure a safe working environment across all their operations.
The Director of Health and Safety will be responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing all health and safety policies and procedures across the organization. This role requires a proactive leader with significant experience in industrial safety, particularly in environments involving high-risk operations such as fryers. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing safety protocols, conducting risk assessments and responding to emergencies, with a specific focus on fryer fire prevention and management.
Director of Health and Safety Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement and continuously improve the company's health and safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations
- Lead the development and execution of safety training programs for all employees, with a focus on high-risk operations including fryer safety
- Conduct regular risk assessments, safety audits and inspections to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions
- Develop and maintain emergency response plans, particularly for incidents involving fryer fires, and ensure all employees are trained in these protocols
- Investigate workplace incidents and accidents, particularly fryer-related fires and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, maintenance and quality assurance, to integrate safety protocols into all aspects of the production process
- Serve as the company's primary point of contact with regulatory agencies regarding health and safety matters
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations and best practices in workplace safety, particularly in relation to food production and fryer operations
- Manage and oversee the company's safety budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively to maintain a safe working environment
Director of Health and Safety Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred
- 7+ years of experience in health and safety management within a manufacturing or food production environment
- Proven experience in managing safety protocols related to fryer operations and fryer fire prevention
- In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, NFPA standards and other relevant safety regulations
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and educate employees at all levels of the organization
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification is highly desirable
- Experience in managing emergency response and crisis situations, particularly those involving fryer fires
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess risks and develop effective safety strategies
