Metric Geo has teamed up with a reputable consulting firm boasting over 25 years of experience to recruit a dedicated full-time Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Manager to join our Wyoming team. Join the Geotechnical firm and collaborate with our team on diverse projects spanning various industries, contributing to endeavors that benefit our community and the wider region.
They utilize cutting-edge technology and efficient processes to deliver valuable recommendations and results to clients, partnering with civil engineering firms, construction companies, municipalities, mineral exploration and extraction firms, renewable energy, and others.
The Construction Materials Testing Laboratory Manager oversees lab and field tasks to ensure compliance with standards, conducts maintenance and testing for accreditation, and manages test report distribution. Responsibilities include construction observation, materials testing (e.g., soil density, concrete properties), and supervision of asphalt quality control/assurance.
THE ROLE
- Conducting tests in accordance with ASTM, AASHTO, or similar procedures.
- Evaluating results to ensure specification compliance.
- Performing field inspections on various construction projects.
- Testing soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates.
- Communicating proactively with contractors and clients to advance project objectives.
- Monitoring work procedures for adherence to specifications.
- Providing daily reports on observations and test results.
- Analyzing data for accuracy and relevance.
- Demonstrating self-motivation and ability to work independently.
- Maintaining detailed activity records and ensuring a clean, safe workspace and vehicle.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum requirements include:
- NICET- I or II certification in asphalt or equivalent training .
- Several years (3+ preferred) of materials testing and/or inspection experience, especially in asphalt.
- Ability to interpret construction plans/drawings, project specifications, and industry testing standards (ASTM and ASHTO).
- Engineering degree preferred but not required.
- Preference for Professional Engineer certification or open to pursue.
- Capable of regularly lifting 50+ pounds and occasional overnight or out-of-state travel may be necessary.
