Description:
JOB SUMMARY: This individual is responsible for providing vision care, interacting with patients and preparing them for their time with the doctor. As an ophthalmic assistant, you will provide chair-side doctor assistance, perform diagnostic tests as required by ophthalmologist, and administer treatment when necessary.
COMPETENCIES:
Communication and Patient Care
· Provide exceptional vision care to enhance the patient experience.
· Greet patients and set expectations for their exam.
· Gather patient medical history and complaints.
· Monitor patient flow, ensuring the physician exam rooms are always full and patients are moving through the patient experience.
· Acts as scribe for physician.
· Escorts patients to front desk after exam.
Patient Education
· Reviews physician-generated instructions with patient.
· Provides appropriate patient education materials as directed by physician.
Administrative
· Ensures that exam rooms are tidied and sanitized between patients, including cleaning sinks and sanitizing equipment.
· Clean all lenses used by doctors.
· Prepares for COA exam.
· And all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Two years' experience in a healthcare setting preferred, but not required.
