PURPOSE OF POSITION:
This position is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for the organization, and administration, management, and communication of employee benefit programs, including health insurance, 401(k) plan, wellness programs, and other company benefits. This role involves ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations. This role also provides excellent customer service to employees regarding payroll and benefits matters.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Benefits Administration
* Manage and administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, voluntary benefits, and other company-provided benefits while ensuring compliance with data protection, procedures and documentation.
* Ensure timely processing of enrollment changes, including termination of benefits, invoice processing, premium reconciliations and discrepancies.
* Maintain benefits spreadsheet and ensuring benefit enrollments and changes, including retro payment or deduction catchups, are reflected in the benefit spreadsheets and process through payroll accordingly.
* Oversee the administrative aspects of leave management, such as updating leave tracking systems, generating reports on leave usage and balances, and providing guidance to employees and managers on leave-related matters.
* Regularly evaluating leave management processes and procedures to identify areas for improvement and implementing enhancements to streamline operations, enhance efficiency, and improve the employee experience.
* Integral contributor and facilitator during annual open enrollment process.
* Develop and implement benefit communications to assist employees with benefit programs and policies, conduct training workshops, working with brokers and vendors to resolve issues.
Payroll & Compliance
* Develop and maintain payroll processes, procedures and documentation, and develop internal controls to ensure the quality and efficiency of all payroll functions and regulatory compliance.
* Responsible for full-cycle payroll processing including, but not limited to, timecard review, systems review, accurate and timely processing of weekly multi-state payroll, PTO maintenance and tracking, processing 401k remittance and requests, maintaining payroll reports and spreadsheets, and ensure proper safekeeping of payroll related files.
* Collaborates cross-functionally with HR team members ensuring paperwork for new hire, terminations, and leaves of absence are in accordance and maintained accurately in HRIS and Timekeeping system.
* Responsible for payroll tax compliance and ensuring timely and accurate tax submissions and payments while complying with applicable federal, state and local tax laws. This includes but is not limited to state registrations and maintenance, timely responses to local and state notices.
* Assist employees with their inquiries and research payroll-related issues in a timely manner. (e.g., direct deposit changes, federal tax withholding and state/provincial tax withholding)
* Ensure accurate and timely response for all FRE on-site and remote employees inquiries related to payroll and timekeeping.
* Assist the human resources team with daily activities and projects as required
* Perform other duties as assigned by Manager
COMPETENCIES:

* Proficiency in payroll software and MS Office, especially Excel
* Proficiency in use of and expert understanding of UKG timekeeping system; ability to troubleshoot and educate others

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field
* 5 years' experience processing payroll for 500 + manufacturing or non-exempt employees
* 5 years' experience benefit administration
* Manufacturing experience is a plus
* Strong understanding of U.S. benefits-related laws and regulatory requirements, such as COBRA, ADA, FMLA, HIPAA, PPACA.
* Experience working with ADP Workforce Now
* Experience working with UKG Pro
* Working knowledge of the principles, practices, and standards of human resources
* Highly responsible and reliable, and able to manage confidential information
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
