The AmeriCorps Planning Grant Project Director will oversee the development and strategic planning of an AmeriCorps program within our client's organization. This position involves coordinating efforts among cross-sector partners, leveraging the nearly $29 million Promise Neighborhoods award for the Hope Zone, and identifying the appropriate AmeriCorps implementation grant program for application. The Project Director will ensure that all planning activities align with the goals of the Promise Neighborhoods initiative strategic plans. The individual will lead the submission of an AmeriCorps implementation grant, with potential for directing the program, if awarded. The Project Director will work at 100% effort, guiding the day-to-day operation of the grant and reporting to the Managing Director of Education Programs.
Our client believes that AmeriCorps Members could be an effective tool for addressing community needs in the Hope Zone, with a specific focus on scaling and sustaining Student Success Planning. This initiative is driven by the necessity of change premised on racial equity, community engagement, and continuous gap assessment. An accessible navigator system is crucial for connecting students and families to resources such as afterschool programs, tutoring, mentoring, safe housing, family coaching, and mental health services, leading to self-sufficiency and civic engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Program Planning and Development:
- Develop and manage the AmeriCorps planning grant in alignment with the goals of the Promise Neighborhoods initiative.
- Coordinate and facilitate planning meetings with cross-sector partners to ensure comprehensive program design and development.
- Establish and maintain relationships with partners to secure necessary resources and support for the AmeriCorps implementation grant application.
- Develop strategies to utilize non-federal funds for navigators, training, and incentives.
Resource Coordination:
- Leverage Montgomery County ESC and Dayton Public Schools data sharing through the Learning Circle Platform for program evaluation and improvement.
- Leverage use of 21st Century Grants for afterschool programs, Montgomery County Human Services Levy funds for afterschool programs and family coaching, and Montgomery County ADAMHS funds for prevention services.
- Align with the Montgomery County 2 Generation Collaborative to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
Operational Oversight:
- Guide the day-to-day operation of the AmeriCorps planning grant.
- Facilitate collaborative input and engagement by communicating expectations, leveraging strengths, and fostering cohesion among partners.
- Communicate deliverables to partners effectively and work with them to ensure core activities are completed.
- Report updates during regular meetings with Omega CDC’s leadership and the project team.
Community Engagement:
- Work with partners, parents, community members, and youth to identify and address opportunities for an AmeriCorps implementation program, focusing on Student Success Planning.
- Promote racial equity and community engagement through continuous identification, assessment, and analysis of gaps and barriers.
- Strengthen, enhance, and sustain a responsive, multi-generational system of services and resources.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Education, Social Work, Public Administration) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, community development, or a related field.
- Previous experience with AmeriCorps programs or similar national service programs preferred.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of community development and engagement strategies.
- Knowledge of AmeriCorps program requirements and federal grant management.
- Familiarity with the Promise Neighborhoods initiative and related cross-sector partnerships.
Skills:

Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Work is performed primarily in an office environment, with local travel required for meetings and presentations. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
