Our client, a well-respected global manufacturer in the Ottawa, IL area, is seeking qualified candidates for EHS Manager. This is a senior plant leadership position which encompasses environmental responsibilities with particular focus on air. Additionally, the EHS Manager will champion all safety and health initiatives. An EHS Specialist reports to this position. This role reports to the Plant Manager and Corporate Safety and Health Director.
Primary Duties
- Manage all environmental activities at the plant level including Title V reporting and other multi-media requirements
- Provide facility-wide assessments of environmental, health and safety performance and report findings internally
- Lead the effort to maintain a behavioral safety program
- Ensure the industrial safety and security of all team members and plant property
- Act as Management Representative for TS16949/ISO14001 compliance and certification
- Responsible for all Health and Safety activities in the plant (Hearing conservation, Hazard Communications, Respiratory Protection, Lift Truck Operator Training, LOTO Procedures, Emergency Response, Evacuation Plan, etc.)
- Evaluate, update, and maintain JSAs and work with plant staff to ensure implementation
- Participate in annual site budget activities
- Develop and coach direct report
- Maintain good working relationship with union employees
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Chemical or Civil Engineering or an equivalent technical related field and a minimum of 5 years' experience in progressive levels of responsibility in EHS in a manufacturing setting
- Title V Air Permitting experience
- Prior leadership experience
- A broad knowledge of Federal and Local statutes regarding environmental and industrial safety regulations
- Excellent human relations skills and the ability to work with employees at all levels
Salary and Benefits
- $115,000 - 130,000 plus up to 20% bonus
