About:
A mid-market global law firm are looking to add an Associate into their growing Bankruptcy practice group. The position is open to their Chicago office.
The firm has been established since 1913 with close to 250 attorneys across six offices nationwide. The team assist businesses with reorganizations and insolvency-related matters. They represent parties in bankruptcy and other judicial proceedings, as well as in out-of-court workouts across the country, including business debtors and borrowers, unsecured creditors’ committees, lenders and other secured parties, bondholders, vendors and trade creditors, asset purchasers, insurance carriers, landlord, equipment lessors, liquidating agents, and individual stakeholders.
The position requires:
- A minimum of two years’ relevant law firm experience.
- Specific experience representing business debtors, creditors, landlords, and supply chain parties.
- Familiarity with the bankruptcy code, the uniform commercial code, and experience with transactions, business workouts and restructurings.
- Knowledge of aspects of financial restructuring and bankruptcy, including complex Chapter 11 transactional experience.
- Experience working with commercial parties with formulating creative solutions to resolve significant commercial disputes using the Bankruptcy Code and/pr applicable state law.
- Desire to understand how to develop a representation strategy that advances client goals.
- Experience working with a broad range of clientele including Fortune 200 companies, large and middle-market businesses, and international businesses.
- Strong advocacy, research, and writing skills, along with strong academic credentials.
- Must be detail-orientated, organized, and have a strong work ethic.
- Interested in business development activities.
- Must be licensed to practice law in the jurisdiction of which they are sitting.
