The Music Ministry Leader has the exciting job of leading congregational music and singing to create an atmosphere of intimate worship and celebration. The Leader will develop music skills from children to adults. The Leader will recruit, train, and coordinate musical staff, guest musicians, and volunteer singers and musicians to draw the congregation and community into a growing relationship with God. The Worship Leader supervises Munholland’s organist and paid section leaders.
Candidate must be a committed Christian who puts their faith into practice, be proficient in playing the piano, respect traditional and contemporary styles and genres of worship music; ability to blend new and old styles, skilled in the use of technology in worship from slide production to streaming, able to train and nurture singers and musicians, and have a teachable heart.
The Music Ministry Leader will work with the Pastor to coordinate the elements of the Sunday morning worship services, with special attention to the message, and identify creative ways to enhance the services. · Plan worship each Sunday choosing songs, hymns, praise sets and instrumental selections to inspire the congregation’s worship of God, as well as being attentive to the liturgical calendar of the church. They will lead the music at the Sunday morning worship services including directing the choir, section leaders, and instrumentalist, and lead the hymns and worship songs with their voice or from an instrument. They will plan and direct choral rehearsals and activities on a weekly basis cultivating a Christ centered attitude amongst the members and leaders of the choir. They will lead and oversee the 4 section leaders of the choir (Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) coordinating special music needs, solos, and any other musical need as it arises. They will help plan special services and events including but not limited to Advent, Christmas, Holy Week, Easter, Pentecost, and World Communion Sunday. They will blend contemporary and traditional styles of worship music to create an Ancient-New atmosphere of worship using a wide-range of worship styles, songs, and a full range of instruments. They will prepare visual media slides and other media needs in ProPresenter each week for all worship services and coordinate the media team for Sunday services and special occasions.
A bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience are required with proven experience recruiting, directing, and leading in worship. This is a full time salaried position with benefits.
