Office Plant Maintenance Associate (Horticulture Technician)

$30-$35hr (Weekly pay + Benefits)
32 hours a week: Monday- Thursday 6am-2pm or 7am-3pm
6-12 month contract (Great potential for extension or permanent )

Responsibilities
Plant maintenance at several properties within the office work environment will include offices, lobbies, atriums, courtyards, roof gardens, and plazas, caring for a range of plants from large tropical specimens to pollinator gardens to edible gardens. This variety is one of the things that make this position unique:
- Perform general horticulture maintenance such as watering, planting, weeding, pest management, irrigation, fertilizing, mulching, cleaning, and pruning
- Assist in designing floral and orchid arrangements
- Interact with coworkers, building staff, tenants, visitors and contractors with professionalism and courtesy
- Cleaning and maintenance of a small nursery facility
- Assist with projects such as seasonal color rotations, plant replacements and installations, holiday décor, set-up for special events, and other activities as requested
Qualifications
- Experience; personally, or professional caring for plants and basic understanding of different types of plants. (Training and instructions provided)
- Able to maintain nursery in the building and roof top garden
- Must be comfortable with getting dirty at times and enjoy hands on work
- Comfortable walking and moving around throughout the day in the building.
- Requires being comfortable working in a corporate environment; professionalism and courtesy with other office staff in the building.
- Basic knowledge or interested in learning about tropical plants and their watering, nutritional, and pest control needs (Training provided)
- Interested in supporting installation of plants throughout the office.
- Interested in learning to organize flower arrangements and orchids
- Bonus: Knowledge of organic gardening methods and Integrated Pest Management (IPM)
- Able to lift up to 40 lbs., navigate stairs and ladders as needed
- Punctuality and attendance requirements
- Work schedules are somewhat flexible, however occasional weekend work is needed, with notice
