Position Summary
We are seeking a qualified Field Safety Observers for electrical utility safety support. Our Field Safety Observer will be deployed to various locations throughout our utility client's service territory, which is primarily San Diego County. FSO's will conduct safety observations on our utility client's contractors and their subcontractors conducting work on our utility client's projects. Our utility client's project work consists of overhead and underground electrical, transmission & distribution, construction, civil and related activities.
- Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProviding Utility Management Safety Support.
- Applying trade, regulatory, and safety standard knowledge to assist in the safe and reliable operation of the utility pipeline grid.
- Performing regular field observations and recording safety audits to reinforce safety and human performance factors.
- Attending internal and external meetings as required to participate in promoting a strong safety performance by our utility client's contractors and subcontractors.
- Coordinating with project managers, planners, and crews.
- Coordinating with subject matter experts regarding recorded incidents, identifying the cause and what alternative procedures could mitigate the cause in the future.
- Supporting company as required on investigations and reviews of contractor incidences.
- Maintaining high service standards, ethics, and professionalism at all times.

- Use of safety management systems - currently Predictive Solutions SafetyNet}
- QualificationsMUST HAVE Electrical Utility Safety Experience.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
- Bachelor's degree in related areas such as health and safety, construction management, engineering or business administration is desired OR 4 years equivalent related experience and training.

- Preferred QualificationsMinimum of 4 years of experience in either pipeline/gas/civil/electrical operations, safety oversight or as a pipeline professional
- Formal Safety Certifications - CSP, CHST, CUSP, COSS, etc.
- Experience with overhead and underground electrical, transmission & distribution, and/or civil.
- A practical and applicable understanding of occupational safety in utility construction
- CPR/AED certified.
- Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check.
- Ability to work in all weather.
