Job Description: Histotech/Lab Associate
Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Histotech/Lab Associate to join our Contract Research Organization (CRO) lab specializing in multiplex immunofluorescence (mIF) services. The ideal candidate will have a strong focus on microtomy, organization, and sample management. Experience in immunohistochemistry (IHC) or immunofluorescence (IF) is a plus but not required, as training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform precise microtomy to section tissue samples for multiplex IF analysis, ensuring high-quality sections suitable for downstream applications.
- Maintain meticulous records of all procedures and samples, ensuring accuracy and consistency in sample preparation and data entry.
- Efficiently organize and manage samples, reagents, and laboratory supplies to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion of projects.
- Receive, accession, and track tissue samples accurately using the Laboratory Management System (LMS).
- Ensure proper labeling and storage of samples throughout the testing process.
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies as needed to maintain optimal stock and prevent workflow interruptions.
- Assist in performing multiplex IF staining procedures, including reagent preparation, staining, and imaging, under the guidance of senior staff.
- Conduct quality control checks on reagents, equipment, and tissue samples to ensure accuracy and reliability of results.
- Clean, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- Adhere to all laboratory safety protocols and regulations, including proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
- Work closely with research scientists, laboratory technicians, and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate and timely diagnostic information.
Qualifications:
- Education: Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Biology or a related field. Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histologic Technician (HT) is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience in a histology laboratory. Experience in IHC or IF is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
- Proficiency in microtomy and the use of laboratory equipment. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of laboratory safety standards, quality control procedures, and regulatory requirements.
