Position Description:
We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will work with a multi-discipline engineering team to handle plant and project engineering tasks. This role involves selecting construction materials and methods, writing specifications, supervising and preparing mechanical drawings, controlling costs, and managing work to meet project schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering and Project Management:
- Collaborate with a multi-discipline engineering team to perform plant and project engineering tasks.
- Select appropriate construction materials and methods.
- Write detailed specifications and prepare mechanical drawings.
- Supervise work, control costs, and manage projects to adhere to schedules.
- Mechanical Engineering Analyses:
- Perform analyses for various systems including steam, hydraulic, pumping/piping, HVAC, machinery design/layout, process cooling/heating, storage tank design/construction, and vessel design/construction.
- Conduct inspections of existing facilities (buildings, equipment, pipelines) to assess integrity and safety, and recommend necessary modifications.
- Project Construction Support:
- Support the development of plans and schedules for the construction phase, ensuring availability of materials, equipment, and personnel.
- Ensure work is performed according to plans, specifications, and good construction practices, while maintaining cost efficiency.
- Proposal & Design Review:
- Create detailed project proposals, scopes of work, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve design packages from equipment suppliers and design firms, providing constructability input.
- Commissioning & Documentation:
- Execute commissioning plans and maintain necessary documentation.
- Consider safety in all aspects of work and design.
Skills Required:
- Typically 6+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design.
- Proficiency in CADD tools (AutoCAD, Pipe Stress Analysis, Vessel Design) for efficient production of engineering work.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as ASME, API codes, and standards.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Skills Preferred:
- Knowledge of Project Management principles.
Experience Required:
- Typically 6+ years of experience in Mechanical Engineering and Design.
Education Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university. A closely related degree may be considered.
