Robert Half is currently partnering with a stable San Diego based company, in a great industry, that is looking for a Security Engineer (Network and Systems). The ideal candidate for this position will be a detail-oriented security engineer responsible for ensuring the safe operation of systems, related applications, hardware, and network infrastructure. This includes designing and implementing security protocols and systems, monitoring for security breaches and infiltrations, conducting regular system tests, and maintaining accurate cybersecurity documentation.
Responsibilities:
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining network and data security systems.
- Conducting scheduled checks and monitoring to identify potential security breaches and infiltrations.
- Designing and implementing security standards, policies, and procedures.
- Creating, managing, and supervising access controls and systems to protect data and network structures.
- Participating in change management processes and advise on potential security impacts.
- Conducting investigations on security breaches and produce detailed incident reports.
- Working closely with colleagues on installation, changes, and solutions to reduce data breach risks.
- Ensuring compliance with national regulations and policies.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Previous experience in Network and System Administration, before moving into a security role.
- Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, or CSX will be a plus.
- Strong technical skills, including proficiency in firewalls, VPNs, anti-virus programs, content filtering, etc.
- Familiarity with Security Frameworks, industry standards and regulations.
- Familiarity with web-related technologies (Web applications, Web Services, Service Oriented Architectures) and of network/web related protocols.
- Open mindedness to helping out in other areas on IT when needed.
Other:
- Position is 100% onsite in San Diego area and general working hours are 8-5. However, flexibility to create daily onsite schedule that makes sense for your situation.
