Nonprofit Executive Director

Our client, a Houston social services nonprofit organization, is seeking an Executive Director to
provide overall leadership, direction, and management of the organization to ensure the effective delivery of critical refugee services, the achievement of strategic goals, and the sustainability of operations. Reporting to the Board of Directors, this Executive Director will play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction of the organization and advancing its mission of supporting refugees in their effort to build productive and happy lives in America.
Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership and Management: In addition to oversight of day-to-day operations and department heads, this position provides effective leadership and management to staff and volunteers, fostering a culture of teamwork, collaboration, and excellence. Mentor and develop staff members, promoting their growth and professional development within the organization.
- Strategic Leadership: Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction to the organization, working closely with the Board of Directors to set priorities, establish goals, and develop plans for achieving mission impact and financial sustainability.
- Fundraising Strategy: Work with the existing Major Gifts Officer and Grants Manager to develop and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy to diversify and increase revenue streams. Cultivate and steward relationships with donors, funders, and supporters to maximize philanthropic support for refugee services.
- Financial Management: Oversee the organization's budget, financial planning, and fiscal operations, ensuring sound financial management practices and accountability. Monitor revenue and expenses, analyze financial performance, and make strategic adjustments as needed to ensure financial stability and alignment with organizational goals.
- Program Development and Evaluation: Lead the design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and services, ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and strategic priorities. Identify opportunities for programmatic innovation and expansion to meet the evolving needs of refugees and maximize impact.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including refugee communities, government agencies, funders, partner organizations, and the broader community. Serve as a passionate advocate and spokesperson for the organization, promoting awareness, understanding, and support for refugee issues.
- Board Relations: Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure effective governance, strategic planning, and oversight of organizational activities. Provide regular updates and reports on fundraising, programmatic, and operational matters to the Board, leveraging their expertise and networks to advance the organization's mission.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in nonprofit management, with a proven track record of success in fundraising, financial management, and program development.
- Strong commitment to and passion for serving refugees.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire diverse stakeholders, including donors, board members, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
