Position DescriptionRiver City Construction is seeking a Senior Estimator to join the New Work & Pursuits Team. Senior Estimators are responsible for leading project estimates, budgets, and ensuring accurate and complete evaluations of the anticipated project costs. Also, this role involves managing relationships with clients, design firms, subcontractors, and suppliers. The ideal candidate will exhibit an analytical mindset, strong organization skills, attention to detail, excellent time management, workplace professionalism, a sense of selflessness, and humility.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead public / private competitively project pursuits of various sizes, various markets, and varying complexity from initial review of the project documents through the final bidding phase.
- In coordination with the preconstruction department, prepare conceptual budgets, milestone budgets, and the competitive bidding process for CM and alternative delivery projects.
- Manage and lead team members assigned to pursuits to generate comprehensive project estimates.
- Review work of the estimators assigned to the project and ensure accuracy, completeness, and prompt completion of their assignments.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates by analyzing all project costs, including materials, labor, equipment, supplier, and subcontractor costs.
- Perform all areas of takeoff, quantity survey, and pricing of project systems.
- Perform complex quantity takeoff for self- perform scopes of work. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of labor productivity and how to assess labor cost utilizing historical unit per day productions.
- Prepare and evaluate subcontractor and supplier scopes of work for all divisions of work.
- Work collaboratively with the operations team to evaluate site logistics, construction schedule, areas of risk, and construction means & methods.
- Work closely with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate cost projections.
- Work with department leadership on strategy and processes to ensure department success.
- Additional duties include updating subcontractors and suppliers in the company solicitation software, assisting in maintaining department unit price database, historical cost database, and other systems.
- Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with company processes and standards.
Team Structure:
- In addition to working with the estimating project teams, senior estimators will work collaboratively with the executive team members from all office locations to develop project estimates/ or budgets.
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients, design firms, subcontractors, and suppliers will be expected in this role.
Training and Development:
- Senior estimators will function as mentors and provide guidance to the junior employees as they negotiate the estimating process.
- Project assignments are determined by the EVP of New Work. Assignments for work within those projects will be determined by the Senior Estimator or lead Estimator.
Innovation & Technology:
- Assist in research, develop, and implementation of innovative concepts and technology needs for the estimating department that align with RCC’s strategic objectives and allows for more efficiencies in the estimating process.
- Assist in maintaining estimating department systems such as labor rates, material & equipment cost resources, historical project data, building square foot cost database, etc.
- Individuals should possess strong mathematical and computer skills.
- Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Etc.)
Position Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or equivalent degree is required.
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or extensive experience (10+ Years) as an estimator in the construction field.
- Exceptional time management, multitasking, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to closely collaborate with other project teams and stakeholders.
- Excellent research, proposal writing, and oral presentation skills.
- Extensive knowledge of best industry practices and standards.
- Working knowledge of construction software for cost estimation.
