Title: Assistant Engineer
Duration: 12-month contract
PR: $38.09-$58.47/hr.
Hours: Onsite Monday-Friday
- Schedule can turn hybrid 2-3 days remote upon approval
Must Haves:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or an Engineer-in-Training (EIT) Certification
- 1-3 years' experience as an Assistant Engineer or equivalent
- Knowledge of principles of physics and mathematics used in civil engineering and their application to engineering problems
- General knowledge of environmental sustainability with a strong sustainability mindset
- Expert user of technologies such as Adobe, PowerPoint, Excel, Microsoft Office, etc
- Strong communicator with the ability to work proactively
Plusses:
- Looking to grow in role and potentially get Professional Engineer(PE) license
Day to Day:
Typical duties for an Assistant Civil Engineer in the Sustainability Engineering and Long-Term Planning group include the following:
- Research, evaluate, and provide detailed analysis of recycling and renewable energy opportunities (Biosolids, Biogas, solar, etc.) and for various projects
- Support projects related to the Environmental Sustainability Program, including but not limited to the Climate Adaptation and Resiliency Plan, Organics Program, and Biosolids
- Evaluate state and federal grant opportunities that support SacSewer’s sustainability efforts
- Coordinate with various departments to gather information to support project evaluations
- Assist with the preparation of SacSewer’s agreements with external agencies
- Review sewer plans and specifications, assist with project management-related activities, develop requests for proposals, manage contracts, and coordinate with external agencies
- Lead and assist on tasks supporting the Going Green Program
- Prepare comprehensive technical reports, memos, and presentations
- Direct and review student intern work products
