Rise Utility is a certified DBE and small business located in Clovis, CA. Our experienced staff provides subject matter expertise related to utility coordination, design, construction, contracts, and risk analysis & mitigation. Our teams provide utility coordination, construction management, land surveying & permitting services, utility design, and underground utility construction services.
Role Description:
This Electric Distribution Designer role is a full-time position and part of our design division. In this role you will be responsible for designing new overhead & underground electric distribution facilities and service connections, and/or the relocation of existing electric facilities. Additionally, you will be responsible for reviewing site constraints to determine the most cost-effective route to serve a new customer or relocate existing facilities, as well as contribute to joint trench composite drawings and exhibits.
This is a hybrid role with flexibility for remote work.
Position Responsibilities:
- Utilize AutoCad to draft electric utility designs for new business connections, relocations, and distribution system upgrades
- Develop material list for same
- Size cable, conductor, transformers, poles, and other overhead and pad-mounted equipment
- Communicate with co-workers and clients to agree on the best solution for engineering design
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience working for or contracting with an electric utility company in a design capacity
- Proficient in AutoCad and general Microsoft Office products
- Reasoning skills and ability to solve practical problems
- Comfortable with working in an office environment with occasional field site visits
- Experience using pole loading software (Spida Calc, O-Calc, etc)
- Experience performing voltage drop & flicker calculations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline
- Familiarity with PG&E Greenbook, SCE ESR, and/or SDG&E Service Standards & Guide Manual
- Well defined knowledge of common utility design & construction practices
- QEW status and comfortable opening energized enclosures and pad-mounted equipment

Wage Data:
Salary range for this position is $30-60/hr. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill, education, and experience.
