We are seeking a Substation Engineer to work remotely! Occasional Travel. The ideal candidate will be responsible for implementing electrical components into devices. They will also help design and manufacture electrical products of all shapes and sizes. They should be able to make quality assurance checks in order to keep the product standard high.
Responsibilities
- The successful candidate will apply a diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to substation engineering, design, and operation in the electric utility industry
- On-site assessment and evaluation of existing equipment, steel structures, foundations, , in so called “brown field” substation projects
- Identifying and clarifying technical ambiguities and conflicts in the documents
- Identifying potential or probable risk during construction and installation
- Developing mitigation strategies for identified risks
- Analyze sub-contractor bid responses for inconsistencies, oversights and mistakes
- Lead sub-contractor bid reviews to resolves bid response inconsistencies, oversights and mistakes
- Provide cost recommendations to the proposal team based on the bid review analysis
- Prepare, update and support the project execution engineering activities in the schedule with emphasis on
- Develop the Design Criteria and the Document Deliverables list for the project
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
- Strong problem solving, technical, math and science skills
- 5+ years of Substation Engineering experience.
- Proficient in relevant engineering software and tools, such as ETAP, PSCAD, or MATLAB.
