Job DescriptionPosition Summary:
Sovah Health is looking for the ideal candidate who will provide direct patient care, technical support and input in planning care through communication with the RN and other patient care team members. Is effectively involved with maintaining the standard of care for patients in assigned unit/area. Performs basic patient care activities as delegated and supervised by an RN, including obtaining and recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature as directed.

· Assists patients with tending to personal care and activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, grooming, eating, and ambulation.
· Reports abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental, and emotional conditions to nursing staff.
· Assists with keeping patient rooms and common areas stocked, clean and orderly.
· Assists patients in the use of toilet facilities, including bedpans.
· Assists patients with ambulation, including the use of walkers and wheelchairs, when applicable.
· Assists patients’ with feeding, when needed.
· Assists patient with fluid intake, as directed, measures and records fluid intake and output.
· Repositions patient, as appropriate.
· Checks diapers/under pads with each position change and insures patient cleanliness; provides linen change as needed.
· Utilizes proper patient identification system, i.e. two patient identifiers.

Minimum Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Must be enrolled in a professional school of nursing program and completed their first semester (Fundamentals of Nursing including clinicals). Graduate of a professional nursing program can work as PNA for 180 days from date of first attempt at the NCLEX.
Required Skills Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Requires flexibility in scheduling with the ability to work all shift patterns including weekends and holidays to ensure continuity of care and nursing coverage to the patients of Sovah Health Danville on all units.
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) American Heart Association required
