Job Summary: We are seeking a dynamic and entrepreneurial Mechanical Project Manager with a proven track record in both sales and project management. This role combines business development with the oversight of mechanical projects, from initial client engagement through to project completion. The ideal candidate will have the ability to build strong client relationships, secure new business, and manage all aspects of mechanical construction projects to ensure they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Development and Sales: Identify and pursue new business opportunities within the mechanical contracting market. Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to drive sales growth. Prepare and present proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals.
- Project Management: Manage multiple mechanical projects from inception to completion, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the project lifecycle. Ensure client satisfaction by addressing concerns, providing regular updates, and delivering high-quality service.
- Estimating and Proposal Development: Prepare detailed cost estimates, project scopes, and proposals for mechanical work, including HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems. Work closely with the estimating team to ensure accurate and competitive pricing.
- Team Coordination: Coordinate with project teams, including engineers, subcontractors, and field personnel, to ensure seamless project execution. Provide leadership and direction to ensure all team members are aligned with project goals and objectives.
- Budget and Cost Control: Monitor project financials, including budget, costs, and profitability. Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and implement value engineering solutions where applicable.
- Quality Assurance and Control: Oversee quality control processes to ensure all mechanical work meets project specifications, industry standards, and client expectations. Conduct regular site inspections and address any issues.
- Safety Management: Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on all job sites. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and project-specific safety plans. Conduct regular safety meetings and inspections.
- Change Order Management: Identify, negotiate, and manage change orders with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure proper documentation and profitability.
- Project Closeout: Oversee project closeout activities, including punch list management, final inspections, as-built documentation, and client handover. Ensure all project deliverables are completed and submitted on time.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical project management, with a strong focus on HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems.
- Proven track record of successfully selling and managing mechanical construction projects.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, construction methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project) and MS Office Suite.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings, and specifications.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- PMP (Project Management Professional) certification is a plus.
- OSHA 30 certification or willingness to obtain.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites as needed.
