Position Purpose / Summary:
Develops and delivers training programs educating staff on environmental concerns or health and safety risks found in the organization. Ensures that training records, health/safety manuals or handbooks, incident/accident reports, or other documentation are appropriately maintained. Purchases and distributes personal protection equipment or other related supplies. Monitors known health, safety, or environmental hazards, such as noise, air, or wastewater pollution levels. Coordinates inspection of facilities, vehicles, or equipment. May develop and communicate facility-specific emergency response or evacuation plans.
Responsibilities:
· Ensure OSHA 300 Log is up to date and accurate.
· Collect and file employee statements from injuries, follow up with injured employees to ensure appropriate treatment and corrective actions take place.
· Monitor & ensure compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
· Conduct EHS training for new hires and current employees.
· Collect (Powered Industrial Truck) PIT documents and issue licenses.
· Walk the floor and speak with employees about their issues and concerns.
· Work with supervision to correct safety issues.
· Track PIT licenses to ensure current operators have a valid license.
· Issue notices to supervisors of employees due for PIT recertification.
· Serve as safety committee chair and ensure adequate membership.
· Develop and distribute safety talk (“toolbox talk”) materials, collect completed Safety Talks.
· Collect & track completed facility inspections from Safety Team Members.
· Maintain & ensure compliance with all OSHA-required training.
· Foster a collaborative relationship with employees at all levels to promote a safety-conscious mindset.
· Work independently on day-to-day tasks without supervision, escalate when needed to Regional or National safety leaders or to local operations as appropriate.
Education/Experience Requirements:
· 3 or more years’ experience in a similar role in a distribution/warehousing environment.
· High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills:
· Must speak and write English and basic computer literate in: Word and Excel.
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred.
· Possess great multi-tasking skills and attention to detail.
· Must be able to work as scheduled (a full work week) and work overtime as requested.
· Must be able to perform job duties without creating a safety risk.
· Must be able to work as a part of a team to achieve the company’s overall goals.
· Must be able to meet production goals and time deadlines for company projects.
· Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
· Must be able to exhibit tact and diplomacy and maintain professional relationships with supervisors, fellow employees, customers, etc.
· Must be able to work under physically and mentally stressful situations.
· Must be able to prioritize and easily adapt to changes throughout the day.
