Description
The Instrument/Electrical Engineer is part of the Maintenance & Reliability Group supporting plant operation and reliability improvement efforts for facility. Working in a team environment, it carries responsibility for implementing reliability best practices, developing and optimizing preventive maintenance tasks, and supporting maintenance activities.
Responsibilities Include:
- Provide day-to-day technical support in the field (craft & planners) for instrumentation and electrical issues & projects
- Manage (approve/reject) Preventative Maintenance (PM) and inspection deferrals
- Own and manage area maintenance procedures as assigned, as well as ensure that equipment files, spare parts, and Bill of Materials (BOMs) are constantly updated and appropriately filed.
- Understand obsolescence and upgrade requirements for equipment and spare parts, and ensure that information is up to date in SAP or equipment files.
- Develop/complete required Management of Change for maintenance activities (obsolete instrumentation upgrades, solenoid modifications, calibrations, etc)
- Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment failures/defects for job planning, either for improvements or repairs, or assist craftsmen in charge of doing so.
- Provide technical support/expertise within your discipline in the design and installation stages of projects for new assets and modification of existing assets, to minimize life cycle costs and to maximize asset availability/reliability.
- Create and lead maintenance capital projects for equipment rebuilds or reliability improvements utilizing the Clarity tool, and following Braskem’s Capital Project Work Process. Will lead several electrical upgrade projects for the site.
- Lead root cause inquiry related to equipment failures in area of responsibility, as required, and formally issue the reports and present for management review and approval.
- Maintains Maximo calibration records
- Conducts/manages Universal waste inspections and documentation
- Manages RTAC system for primary power distribution
- Will assist/maintain plant electrical prints and equipment schematics for the plant
Requirements:
- BS degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 5+ years relevant experience
- Understanding of industry codes and standards (i.e. IEEE, ISA, NFPA, NEC)
- Instrumentation and measurement technology
- Low and high voltage power distribution and controls
- Safety Instrumented System specification, design, and implementation
- Analyzers and sample systems
- PLC maintenance and functionality
- Reliability Engineering concepts and data scrutiny techniques
- Predictive and Preventive Maintenance concepts
Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:
- Experience in the refining, petrochemical, or chemical process
- RCA experience TapRoot or ProAct
- Experience with SAP and Maximo applications.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective communication of complex issues, as well as for mentoring and alignment building.
- Balanced strategic and tactical focus, being creative and innovative, and demonstrate problem solving, organizational, and planning skills.
