We are looking for a professional with experience reviewing and drafting commercial proposals, agreements, and amendments as well as contract management and organization to assist the commercial and legal departments. The ideal candidate would have a great attention to detail and a general understanding of a contract life cycle.
Candidates should be customer focused, good at building strong working relationships, highly motivated, confident, enjoy working in a dynamic business environment, strong at issue spotting and issue solving in ever changing market conditions, and able to exercise good judgment. The position will require the development of working relationships with colleagues in the Accounting, Land, Commercial, and Legal Departments and other business teams and support functions as necessary. This position is based in Houston, TX and requires in-person attendance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Review, revise, and assist in the drafting of commercial agreements, amendments, terminations, and contractual notices under the oversight of the company’s commercial and legal teams
- Maintain and update contractual payment terms for revenue functions
- Track the status of agreements to completion, following up with various departments as required
- Build, maintain and manage contract templates and process documentation
- Assist and provide support in resolving day-to-day contract-related issues
- Prepare contract briefs summarizing contract terms
- Enter contract data into the Contract Management System
- Route contracts for approval and execution
- Provide contractual information to internal and external customers
- Organize and maintain contract files and related records
- Gather contractual data and prepare reports for internal business needs
- Follow SOX procedures and maintain adequate records for audit purposes
- Other duties as assigned
Education & Qualifications:
- 2-5+ years of contracts management in the midstream, trading, or energy sector
- Demonstrated skills in contract drafting in the energy sector are required.
- Experience in the Midstream space is highly preferred
- Must have knowledge of different commercial agreements, terms, and legal requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Detailed oriented, focused, and thorough with excellent organizational skills.
- Results driven, takes initiative, accountable and responsible, can work independently and within/across teams.
- Must be able to multi-task and effectively prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to effectively communicate with different levels and remain calm in high pressure situations.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe.
- Have an aptitude with various systems including the ability to easily learn new software.
- Preferably experienced with FreshSales, Quorum, and Cobblestone.
