Job Summary:
The Paralegal (PL) assists the company’s legal department with duties such as case planning, development, and management, legal research, interviews clients, gathers facts and retrieves information, drafts, and analyzes legal documents and collects, complies and utilizes technical information, to make recommendations to an attorney.
This is a temporary (PRN) part-time position. 10 - 15 hours per week for approximately three weeks.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities at this time.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Build the back-office knowledge management system from the ground up.
- Work with the General Counsel to identify where legal, compliance and related documentation currently exists across the company and lead the effort to consolidate those documents.
- Work with the General Counsel to develop a framework for how documents should be organized so that leaders from across the organization can locate and reference them easily.
- Review existing documents to identify how they should be categorized and where they should be organized.
- Work with IT to create a digital “knowledge warehouse” on the firm’s SharePoint site.
- Manage projects of legal and regulatory initiatives on behalf of the General Counsel.
- Develop project tracking system so that General Counsel can easily see the progress of current legal and regulatory initiatives.
Education and Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in a legal analyst or similar role, preferably within the healthcare or investment industry.
- Solid understanding of contract law, healthcare regulations (e.g., HIPAA, HITECH), and business entity governance.
- Proficiency in contract management software such as DocuSign and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly and concisely.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
