Creatives On Call is supporting their public service client in the identification of a data-savvy, strategic program manager with an urban planning background.
This multidisciplinary client team collaborates to create innovative solutions that address the evolving needs of our community. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Program Manager in Urban Planning to lead and manage key urban planning projects.
The Program Manager - Urban Planning will research and coordinate urban planning programs, ensuring they align with organizational goals and community needs. This role involves strategic planning, project management, stakeholder engagement, and policy development. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in urban planning, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
This role is fulfilling a temporary need and will require being ONSITE in their downtown Cincinnati offices. The ideal candidate will be available full-time hours to support the workflow.
Daily responsibilities:
- Lead innovation processes, including research, idea generation, prototyping, and testing.
- Design and deliver qualitative research around urban planning and innovative sustainable development in various formats like slide decks, videos, and design artifacts (e.g., journey maps, and service blueprints)
- Create visual frameworks to simplify complex challenges in behaviors, workflows, and processes.
- Plan and conduct co-creation workshops with stakeholders to develop viable solutions.
- Stay current with trends, sharing best practices and research.
- Prepare and present reports, visuals, and recommendations to various stakeholders.
- Support the team in agile working methods, utilizing tools like Slack, AutoCAD Figma, Miro, and Asana.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, or a related field.
- Proficiency in civic design and urban planning processes, including research, ideation, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong knowledge of urban planning principles, zoning regulations, and environmental policies.
- Proven project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, GIS) and project management tools.
- Expertise in design-based innovation methodologies and frameworks.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Strong communication skills, including content creation and report writing.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and within a team
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience conducting user research and translating insights into actions.
- Understanding of challenges faced by municipal governments.
- Experience working with community, government, or non-profit leaders.
- Experience with equity-centered design frameworks.
- Experience scaling initiatives through service or product design in large organizations.
- Passion for climate action and economic equity, particularly within historically disadvantaged communities. Experience addressing race-based inequities and climate challenges is a plus.
