GCRTA has a great opportunity for Senior Counsel, Labor, Employment and Administrative Law to join our Legal team!
Supervises and manages the operation of the Labor, Employment and Administrative Law Section of the Legal Affairs Division. The Labor, Employment and Administrative Law Section is responsible for:
- Representing the Authority’s interests in labor arbitrations and in matters before state and federal administrative agencies. Some litigation work in court may be required.
- Providing legal assistance to Human Resources and various departments on labor and employment matters.
- Providing legal support, as well as advice and counsel, to various departments within the Authority and to the Board of Trustees.
- Drafting and reviewing Board resolutions.
- Handling public records requests and subpoenas.
- Serving as a resource for and providing legal assistance to the Authority’s Office of Equal Opportunity.
- Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions on public sector legal issues, including but not limited to, public transit and statutory compliance with federal, state and local laws.
- Conferring with state and federal agencies for guidance and monitoring federal, state and local legislation affecting GCRTA
- Performing other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
- The Senior Counsel will be responsible for promoting the handling all legal matters thoroughly, efficiently and in a timely manner. Written work products must be of the highest quality. May be assigned to serve on Authority committees and review panels.
Job Requirements
Applicants must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a license to practice law in the State of Ohio. Applicants must also be in good standing with the Ohio Supreme Court. A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant legal experience is required. At least three (3) years professional supervisory experience preferred, either through professional work environment or through completion of supervisory training/education. Applicants must also have strong writing, research and oral communication skills, with experience using Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Groupwise or similar email communication, and the internet. Applicants must also have intermediate knowledge of and skill in using Westlaw and/or Lexis software.
Competitive salary that will be commensurate with experience.
Salary Range $115,000 - $134,340
