We are looking for an experienced Heavy Haul Project Manager to oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of heavy haul projects. This role requires a candidate with expertise in logistics, transportation, and project management, along with a deep understanding of the regulatory and technical challenges associated with heavy haul operations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, manage, and oversee heavy haul transportation projects from inception to completion.
- Coordinate with clients, drivers, dispatchers, and external partners to ensure seamless project execution.
- Ensure all permits, clearances, and route surveys are secured in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Develop project schedules and timelines, ensuring efficient resource allocation and adherence to deadlines.
- Manage budgets and project costs, ensuring profitability while maintaining high-quality service.
- Conduct risk assessments, addressing challenges such as equipment requirements, transportation routes, and environmental factors.
- Maintain strict adherence to safety regulations and standards for all operations.
- Provide regular project updates to stakeholders and clients, ensuring transparency and addressing any issues or delays.
- Collaborate with the procurement and engineering teams to ensure the proper equipment is sourced and ready for transport.
- Foster relationships with key stakeholders, including customers, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Transportation, Logistics, Engineering, or a related field preferred. High School Diploma or GED required.
- PMP Certification
- 8+ years of experience in heavy haul project management, transportation logistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of working knowledge of transporting over-dimensional shipments and permitting processes.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations, oversized/overweight permits, and route surveys.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in project management software and transportation management systems (TMS).
- Strong organizational and leadership skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of heavy haul equipment, including trailers, cranes, and specialized transportation methods.
