JOB – Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager
LOCATION - Smithfield, NC
TERM - Permanent
SALARY - $95,000 - $105,000
My client are seeking an experienced Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Manager to lead and oversee all EHS activities at their manufacturing facility near Smithfield, NC. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in managing EHS programs, establishing objectives and targets, and driving a strong safety culture throughout an organization.
The EHS Manager will ideally have the following attributes:
- A 4 year degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Engineering, Environmental discipline, or equivalent.
- Advanced degrees or certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) are highly preferred.
- Strong team-building and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in using systems for reporting EHS data and metrics.
- Ability to lead cross-functional EHS teams and manage varied interests.
- Previous experience in EHS program management and employee training, with an emphasis on environmental health and safety.
- Bilingual (English and Spanish).
The EHS Manager's role will involve:
- Directing EHS activities at the site, including the development and execution of site-specific EHS goals and objectives aligned with corporate strategies.
- Facilitating risk assessments to identify key hazards and working with leadership to establish risk-based targets and objectives.
- Maintaining site ISO/OHSAS certifications and ensuring accurate EHS performance reporting.
- Managing EHS compliance with national, area, and local regulatory requirements.
- Ensuring that all required EHS documentation is available in the local languages.
- Driving a zero-incident EHS culture by engaging employees through EHS teams, committees, and processes.
- Creating and tracking EHS metrics, ensuring EHS action items and regulatory findings are closed on time.
- Working with leadership and EHS element champions to conduct annual compliance evaluations and pursue third-party recognition for EHS excellence.
- Managing relationships with the public and regulatory authorities, especially in instances of adverse findings or enforcement actions.
- Developing training matrices and ensuring that all EHS personnel receive required training.
