Freeman Mathis and Gary, LLP is a rapidly growing, national specialty litigation law firm and we are currently seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team in our Philadelphia office. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist attorneys with the preparation of a civil case throughout discovery and prepare for, attend and assist at trial
- Be familiar with and understand medical terminology
- Perform medical record reviews and prepare detailed medical chronologies
- Prepare deposition summaries
- Prepare subpoenas and non-party requests in both State and Federal Courts
- Prepare discovery requests to parties
- Organized and proficient at records management and tracking responses
- Ability to summarize medical and employment records and prepare summaries
- Prepare meet and confer correspondence
- Proficient in software programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints with minimal supervision and exceptional attention to detail
Qualifications and Experience:
- 3+ years paralegal experience in a law firm
- Civil litigation experience required
- Experience with medical cases
- Familiarity with performing research tasks using web-based legal research services
- Experience working with paperless files. iManage experience a plus
- Must successfully pass a background/drug screen
- Nurse Paralegal or Nursing degree a plus
Required Education
- High school diploma required
- Associates program and/or paralegal certificate from ABA approved program preferred.
