Position Summary
The Sterile Processing Technician performs duties and processes to provide centralized processing of instruments to provide quality and safe patient care. These duties are executed in such a manner, so as to be cost-effective, productive and efficient.
Core Duties and Responsibilities
• Checks equipment for cleanliness, functional use; inventories and documents the quantity of each instrument per tray/container
• Wraps trays and product for sterilization in accordance with current policies and procedures
• Verifies sterilization procedures on the appropriate form for quality assurance
• Cleans and reprocesses all equipment and OR instruments upon receipt using cleaning agents and chemicals in accordance with MSDS
• Returns equipment to decontamination in a safe and sanitary manner
Minimum Requirements
• SPD Technician Certification: CSPDT or CRCST or eligible
• 6 months to 1 year of hands on work experience as a SPD Tech
• Basic Computer Skills
• Ability to Walk/Stand for Extended Periods with the Ability to Lift/Push/Pull
• Strong Organizational/Interpersonal/Communication Skills
