Job Overview: We are seeking an accomplished and highly motivated Resort Manager to lead Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of extensive resort management experience, including a strong background in luxury resorts and rooms division management. This role requires a dedicated leader with a passion for excellence and a commitment to delivering an exceptional guest experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily resort operations, including front desk, housekeeping, food and beverage, and maintenance departments.
- Ensure all departments work cohesively to provide a seamless and high-quality guest experience.
- Develop and enforce operational policies and procedures to improve efficiency and service delivery.
- Provide a luxurious and personalized guest experience that reflects the standards of Gurney's Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa.
- Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally.
- Continuously monitor guest feedback and implement improvements to enhance satisfaction and loyalty.
- Recruit, train, and manage a skilled team, including department heads and front-line staff.
- Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, development, and employee engagement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and offer guidance to support staff growth and performance.
- Develop and manage the resort’s budget, including revenue forecasting, expense control, and financial reporting.
- Analyze financial performance metrics such as occupancy rates and average daily rates to drive profitability.
- Implement cost control measures and identify opportunities for revenue growth.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create and implement effective promotional strategies and campaigns.
- Build and maintain relationships with travel agents, corporate clients, and other key stakeholders.
- Assess market trends and adjust strategies to optimize occupancy and revenue.
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and regulatory standards.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and safety throughout the resort.
- Oversee emergency response procedures and conduct staff training.
- Vendor and Community Relations:
- Manage vendor relationships, including contract negotiations and oversight.
- Engage with local businesses and community organizations to enhance the resort’s presence and reputation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in resort management, with a strong background in luxury resorts.
- Extensive experience in rooms division management, including roles such as Director of Rooms or similar.
- Proven track record of achieving high standards of guest satisfaction and operational excellence.
- Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.
- Proficiency with resort management software and systems.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
