About the role
The Coordinator - SHES (Safety, Health, Environmental, Security) will plan and direct health and safety activities under direction of the SHES Manager. She/he will provide and document training on health and safety topics and support the company’s initiatives to encourage participation in and compliance with SHES processes and a safe and environmentally-responsible working environment. She/he will also assist with compliance / assurance processes related to company, federal, state, and local laws, regulations and policies.
What you will be doing
- Conduct routine site safety audits to ensure compliance with Federal, State and company requirements
- Assists in integrating safety and health requirements into project planning and operations
- Interprets requirements and provides technical assistance to other project groups regarding risk assessment, plan preparation, and SHES program execution
- Identifies regulatory requirements and prepares documentation and reports
- Provides technical guidance for safety studies, risk and hazard assessments, relevant safety items and health reviews
- Assists in the development and revie of SHES programs and policies
- Helps develop and implement safety and health communication and awareness measures involving training presentations, posters, signage, and other communications
- Participates in emergency response and aids the investigation and resolution of safety-related incidents
- Provides safety input to other project groups, so that SHES requirements are integrated within project planning, design, plans, procurement, and subcontracts
- Participates in meetings, as required, with project team members, and contractors/subcontractors to advise them of safety and health requirements
- Conducts inspections and monitoring to help evaluate SHES performance, identify corrective actions, and confirm compliance with contract, regulatory, project, and Cyanco requirements
- Assists in tracking SHES performance and trends and preparing reports
- Supports other SHES team members and tasks associated with all SHES disciplines
- Conduct required safety and health training for affected Cyanco employees on site and maintain documentation of training for each affected employee.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of SHES management systems.
- Participate and support SHES assurance activities.
- Support Cyanco leaders to execute their SHES responsibilities and accountabilities.
- Any other activities deemed appropriate by the SHES Manager or Plant Manager
What you will bring
- Engineering or science degree in fields related to occupational health & safety
- 0-3 years of experience in a similar role
- Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote, etc.) and PC skills
- Demonstrate effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to learn company’s internal EHS software systems such as the Incident Reporting System
- Good understanding of relevant EHS processes, procedures and regulations
- Knowledge of new technologies for driving efficiency in day-to-day activities related to Health and Safety
