Job Summary:
The Embedded Product Cyber Security Team ensures that Caterpillar Machine & Engine Systems are developed with state of the art protection from cyber threats. Our team is developing on machine cybersecurity solutions & software for Caterpillar Display, Telematics, Machine, Engine, & Autonomy product lines that will be in production for years to come.
The ideal candidate will be passionate about developing cybersecurity solutions for Caterpillar’s embedded product line. They will also be willing to learn new areas of expertise in this ever-changing world of cybersecurity while working with multiple systems, software, component, and product teams to produce world class cybersecurity solutions for Caterpillar.
The Product Cybersecurity Engineer is a hands-on technical leadership role that will be involved in all aspects of embedded cybersecurity during the New Product Introduction process. This candidate’s deliverables will span from the early research and development stages of ideation, experience and use case development, developing Proof-of-Concept solutions, machine integration and finally production implementation and final validation. This candidate will need to build relationships across the organization as they will be working with all Caterpillar embedded system teams. What You Will Do:
Provide leadership on Cybersecurity objectives, compliance, and implementation during the New Product Introduction process
Develop Embedded Cybersecurity strategies & solutions that will be implemented into production software
Serve as a trusted advisor to effectively communicate product cybersecurity issues in a manner that is easily understood and actionable
Advise on processes and methodologies required when evaluating purchased product solutions and developing new internal solutions
Support both internal and 3rd party risk assessments working with the systems team and Caterpillar IT team
Identify the business risk and assist in developing remediation strategies with systems teams
Assist risk owners with completing risk treatment plans
Education requirement:
Requires a bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Mechanical Engineering.

Teamwork:
Develops and maintains close collaboration with cross functional engine and machine system embedded product and software engineers.
Works closely with IT professionals within the Cybersecurity organization.
Demonstrates experience communicating with 3rd party security partners and consultants
Shows and promotes respect for differences and diversity.
Technical Excellence:
Develops a deep working knowledge of cybersecurity principals and application to embedded control systems.
Engaged with full product line of Caterpillar ECU’s for boot level and middleware software to implement cybersecurity features.
Engages appropriate subject matter resources to effectively resolve technical issues.
Attends Industry trade shows and consortiums to stay abreast of Cybersecurity technology and solutions.
Software Product Design/Architecture:
Demonstrates experience with C++ and Python utilizing Linux development environment.
Ability to analyze software architecture and network diagram for Security Threat architecture Review (STAR) process
Describes major software architecture alternatives and considerations.
Analyzes benefits and drawbacks of specific software designs and architecture.

The location for this position is Mossville, IL
Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.
This position will require 10% travel.
