My client is a general contractor that is looking for a Project Manager to join their team. This person will oversee large-scale and complex program of construction projects. Ideally, my client would like someone with ground up commercial/industrial construction project experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all phases of construction projects within the commercial sector, including planning, directing, coordinating, and budgeting.
- Ensure project objectives are met, and costs are controlled by efficiently managing all resources involved.
- Assess project scope and required resources, and verify project estimates by reviewing proposals, specifications, drawings, and contract documents.
- Supervise construction activities to ensure adherence to design, budget, and schedule, and coordinate with stakeholders such as clients, architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
- Plan and manage onsite operations, including scheduling, engineering, and material control, while directing administrative staff on-site.
- Provide technical support, including interpreting drawings and recommending construction methods and equipment. Oversee additional work estimates and change orders.
- Ensure safety, quality, and productivity standards are met for both subcontractors and internal employees. Monitor material and equipment usage, as well as project performance.
Working Conditions:
- The role requires working in a construction environment, which involves travel and full-time commitment. Physical requirements include crawling, climbing, walking, reaching, bending, kneeling, standing for extended periods, lifting over 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces or at heights. Conditions may vary from hot and cold to humid and wet, depending on the location.
Reporting Line:
- Reports to a senior executive such as a Construction Executive or Vice President.
Qualifications:
- Education & Experience: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and 10 years of construction experience are required. A four-year degree in engineering or construction management with 7-10 years of relevant experience is preferred.
- Skills & Abilities: Demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, effective communication, integrity, and strong organizational skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) is essential. Strong client relations and familiarity with applicable processes and procedures are also important.
