About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a critical project aimed at addressing and remediating identified security vulnerabilities in network devices. The candidate will play a key role in ensuring timely and effective resolution of these vulnerabilities based on an aggressive timeline. The candidate may also be assigned to other projects and tasks.
Responsibilities:
- Critical Systems Identification: Identify and document critical systems and users connected to network devices, assess the service impacts of required remediation actions, and collaborate with the project manager to create a change plan accordingly.
- Code Upgrades: Perform code upgrades on network devices (e.g., IOS, IOS XE, NX-OS, IOS XR), ensuring that all devices are running the latest supported versions.
- Configuration Migration: Facilitate required changes to migrate configurations among different network operating systems (e.g., IOS, IOS XE, NX-OS, IOS XR) and manage the transition of network connections between legacy and new network hardware, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance.
- Pre and Post Checks: Conduct thorough pre and post checks on network devices to validate functionality and performance before and after upgrades.
- Onsite Troubleshooting: Provide onsite support for troubleshooting and resolving issues during the upgrade process. This includes console access to devices and performing necessary recovery steps.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of all remediation activities, including pre and post checks, upgrade processes, and issue resolution.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Cisco Network Devices: Extensive experience with Cisco network device code upgrades and remediation processes.
- Technical Documentation: Proficiency in creating and managing detailed technical documentation.
- Device Checks: Experience with pre and post upgrade checks on network devices.
- System Identification: Ability to identify and document critical systems and users based on MAC and IP addresses. Proficiency in configuring and using network telemetric and diagnostic tools.
- Onsite Support: Capable of providing onsite support, including troubleshooting, console access, and recovery procedures.
Qualifications:
5 years or equivalent experience with Cisco network device upgrades and vulnerability remediation in a large enterprise network.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent documentation and communication skills.
Ability to travel onsite as needed for troubleshooting and issue resolution.
