Overview:
Reporting directly to the Director of Safety, the Safety Manager is responsible for identifying hazardous workplace conditions and implementing programs to train employees on safety policies while ensuring compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations that pertains to Safety.
Job Description:
Responsibilities:
- Train employees on safety policies, procedures and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations by periodically conducting audits.
- Ensure necessary records are maintained and prepared according to established guidelines to meet compliance laws.
- Participate in Occupational Safety Administration (OSHA) inspections by providing inspectors with appropriate documents and identifying safety measures.
- Establish and measure goals for the Safety program at the facility.
- Communicate effectively with plant management on Safety issues.
- Assist supervisors with Safety issues in their departments.
- Conduct incident investigations and develop corrective action for critical situations.
- Communicate with supervisor all issues requiring action.
- Monitor and upkeep of Safety equipment.
- Provide information for Capital and Operational budget items relating to Safety.
- Other duties may be assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Safety Management or related field.
- 5 - 7 years experience in Safety or related area and a familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures with the Safety field.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to perform a variety of complex tasks.
- Ability to work independently with little supervision.
- Ability to lead and direct the work of others at times.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Proficient in all MS Office applications.
