Team Description
The Portfolio Analyst position is within Cascade’s Portfolio Analysis, Asset Allocation, and Risk (PAAAR) Team. The Portfolio Analysis Team is responsible for performance reporting, portfolio analysis, private investment valuation oversight, coordination of business requirements across multiple teams and vendor relationship management.
Position Description
The Portfolio Analyst will play a critical role in advancing our performance reporting infrastructure. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain deep exposure to a diverse range of sophisticated financial instruments and industry practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing portfolio data with real-world business and economic events, creating clear and cohesive performance narratives for key stakeholders. This role is ideal for a team-oriented professional with a strong interest in finance, data science, and multi-asset class portfolios.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Technology and PAAAR team members to design and build new reporting infrastructure in PowerBI, optimizing the end-user experience and ensuring the ongoing maintenance of these reports.
- Train and mentor team members in technical concepts (e.g., SQL, PowerBI) to strengthen team capabilities.
- Develop and maintain meaningful working relationships within the organization and externally to effectively address business needs.
- Learn the firm's existing performance and portfolio reporting infrastructure. Develop skills and understanding of portfolio data, including sources, potential errors, and correction techniques. Identify and recommend areas for improvement.
- Partner with internal teams to enhance the firm's data quality control environment.
- Identify and explain shifts in asset allocation and portfolio metrics. Provide market and portfolio insights and contribute topic ideas for client meetings.
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, or a related field is preferred. Progress toward a CFA designation or MBA is a plus.
- 5-8+ years of experience in performance reporting, portfolio analysis, or a similar role within the financial services industry.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in SQL, Excel, and PowerBI.
- Proven ability to maintain high accuracy and attention to detail with a low tolerance for errors.
- Experience working with large data sets and the ability to explain the underlying story behind the numbers.
- Excellent quantitative, research, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with an empathetic approach.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively. Humble and flexible with a strong personal interest in markets and the institutional investment process.
- Working knowledge of multi-asset class portfolios is preferred. Familiarity with Bloomberg, iLevel, and BlackRock's suite of portfolio reporting tools is preferred.

Cascade is committed to paying employees equitably for substantially similar work. A reasonable estimate of the current base salary range for this position is $140,000 to $160,000, with the exact amount driven by several factors including relevant experience, knowledge, education, degree to which a candidate meets the role requirements, and other qualifications.
