Cement/Mining - Project Manager
Titan America has an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join the Corporate Engineering team. This exempt position will report to the Director of Engineering of Capital Projects and will be responsible for the initiation, planning, supervision, and execution of projects for Titan America in the areas of Cement, Fly Ash, Ready Mixed Concrete, Block Plants, and Aggregates. The position will be located at the Cement Plant of Titan at Medley, Florida.
Responsibilities include:
- Lead in the preparation of feasibility studies, including costs and schedules for proposed capital projects; Ability to present the most efficient technical solution for a given goal, aiming at zero waste and maximizing the ROI for the company.
- Prepare preliminary studies for new concepts as well as coordinate with engineering and consulting firms for the detail design and permitting of new projects
- Work with Corporate and Business Unit purchasing departments and prepare scopes of supply and scopes of work for the purchasing of new equipment as well as the construction and installation work for new assets or upgrades of existing ones
- Perform evaluation on bids received by considering Life Cycle Costs and examining engineering solutions in terms of Reliability and Maintainability and total cost of manufacturing
- Lead the permitting, construction and installation works,
- Lead the commissioning and startup of the new facilities
- Prepare reports to present project progress, and inform business units on issues of quality, cost, and schedule compliance;
- Develop and present mitigation plans for bringing projects back in compliance when needed.
- Ability to travel across the Titan America operations and occasionally supervise tasks away from the Corporate Engineering offices for longer periods. It will not be unusual if the person is required to spend half of his time outside the main office.
Required Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical, chemical or industrial engineering
- 10 years of proven experience in the Project Management of Capital Projects in an Industrial setting (preferably in cement or aggregates). The candidate needs in the role of the leading Project Manager for at least half of the required project management experience. The required experience in Project Management can be supplemented by equivalent experience in maintenance or production roles. In such cases the Project Management experience can be limited to 5 years.
- Good knowledge of MS Office, AutoCAD (or other drafting software)
- Good knowledge of Project Management techniques and software (MS Project etc.)
- Knowledge of BIM 360 and Navisworks is a plus.
- Knowledge of cement manufacturing processes, equipment and major vendors (preferred).
- Knowledge of project management in other heavy industrial sectors such as steel, asphalt, mining is also acceptable
- Experience in construction of import or export terminals is preferable
- A good working understanding of all engineering disciplines involved in an industrial project
- Excellent communication skills – listening, oral, written (report writing), and presentation.
- Mindset and track record for executing continuous improvement in all initiatives.
- Safety Mindset
- Professional Engineer certification in any state will be considered a plus (Preferred but not necessary)
- Certified Project Manager will be considered a plus. (Preferred but not necessary)
- A person who can work independently with minimum supervision, ability to multi-tasking, lead and create consensus. Methodical and meticulous.
