Job Description
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairs on injection molding equipment, robots, adjustments, maintenance, repair and operations of various types of assembly, subassembly, printing, and/or packaging machines. The company scope includes scientific injection molding processing operations and automation equipment in the manufacture of components and devices into FDA regulated markets. This is a high-speed and a controlled manufacturing environment (CME).
Responsibilities:
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and report any unsafe working conditions
- Read, use and interpret measuring devices, gauges and inspection tools.
- Perform all required necessary preventive maintenance and repairs on equipment.
- Actively participate on teams and offer suggestions for improvement.
- Answer machine alarms as they occur and identify and address the root cause.
- Follow all 5S guidelines
- Perform and document inspections per cGMP for work instruction sheet, on device history sheet records, and work instruction sheet tables
- Follow all Lock Out/Tag Out rules
- Diagnose and troubleshoot any pneumatic, electrical or mechanical malfunction on a variety of machines
- Adjusts assembly machine units for major/minor lot production operations following department specification
- Repair and maintain electrical controls on equipment (molding, assembly and packaging machines), including servicing, repairing, adjusting, and testing machines and devices primarily on the basis of electronic principles
- Upload programs to controls in the events of program loss or CPU replacement
- Repair robot arms and controls, including replacing bad boards, motors, encoders, etc.
- Calibrate and adjust robot pick and place locations if needed
- Conduct TPM activities as required
- Input Maintenance work orders into the Computerized Maintenance Management Software (SAP)
- Monitor processes, show an awareness of issues and demonstrate corrective actions to address those issues
- Perform weekly, monthly and as required preventive maintenance (PM)
- Perform root cause analysis for safety, quality, and processing issues
- Suggest ways to improve the efficiency and safety of our work and environment Comply with all company policies
- Must be able to fluently operate presses, robots and auxiliary equipment to diagnose malfunctions, and to verify repairs.
- Troubleshoots and locates the source of the problem by observing the operation of the equipment.
- Brainstorms with other maintenance personnel, and outside technical support as needed.
- Restores damaged or malfunctioning equipment to operation by repairing, replacing and or adjusting electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Controls down time by scheduling repairs with the Maintenance Manager.
- Maintains good communications with Maintenance Manager.
- Maintains ongoing list of projects with timeline to be addressed and completed.
- Assists other maintenance personnel as needed,
- Conserves maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.Ensures the work is completed with technical excellence, and in an efficient and cost-effective fashion.

Preferred/Required Education/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Must have 3 or more years of experience in a technical, hands-on position
- Strong math, reading and communication skills required
- Experience with injection molding required
- Knowledge of PLC programming and troubleshooting (AB, Koyo, Omron, Mitsubishi, etc.)
- Experience in hydraulics and pneumatics required
- Computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications required and SAP experience preferred
- Ability to work independently from verbal and/or written instructions required
- Must understand Lean Manufacturing concepts
- Must be mechanically inclined and have the ability to use basic hand tools
- Must have strong hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
Work Environment
- Works in a clean manufacturing environment that may include moderate noise levels and required appropriate PPE and cleanroom apparel
- Ability to regularly lift up to 40lbs with repetitive movements
- Ability to push and pull items
- Ability to stand and/or walk up to constantly during the shift
- Ability to climb up and down ladders
Qualifications
