Brunel is currently searching for a QA/QC Manager for a 3-month, contract position for a project located in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
In this role you will plan, direct and coordinate all on-site QA/QC activities to ensure compliance with applicable company, owner, and government regulations and requirements. Establish and conduct internal/external audits to ensure QA/QC requirements are met. Decide acceptance or rejection of all work in process and completed work activities. Implement, manage, and instruct others in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control plan and procedures for one large project or several medium construction/maintenance projects. Incumbent should be qualifiable in applicable discipline(s) needed to perform work with appropriate certifications and registrations.
Duties include:
- Supervise and direct on-site personnel involved in QA/QC work - includes personnel administration (performance and wage reviews, promotions, time off, etc.), technical direction of activities, resolution of problem areas and/or questions.
- Establish and maintain project QA/QC (through training, awareness, planning)
- Lead or facilitate Project QA/QC Kick-off Meeting.
- Attend and participate in Project Field Execution Meetings.
- Lead or facilitate development of Project QA/QC Plans.
- Lead or facilitate Project Weekly QA/QC Meetings.
- Develop and implement employee QA/QC on-boarding program.
- Develop and implement project ongoing QA/QC training program.
- Monitor and assist subcontractors in the development and administration of their QA/QC Program.
- Assess the need for 3rd party services and hire if required (with Project/Construction Management approval).
- Conduct QA/QC pre-planning activities.
- Oversee, direct and mentor QA/QC Specialists under direct supervision.
- Report project QA/QC status to Project Team, Client, and Corporate QA/QC Department.
- Oversee program to conduct weld tests and / or instruct employees in proper use of procedures, materials, tools, etc.
- Determine and ensure correct processes are in use per engineering specs as well as Company and owner requirements.
- Oversee program to document and track company welder testing and certifications as well as site weld maps.
- Develop program for reporting of defects/rework and incorporate into plan.
- Interact with Company, Client and Subcontractor representatives regularly to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Analyze and interpret blueprints, manuals, and other materials to determine specifications, inspection and testing procedures.

- Monitor operations to ensure conformance to specifications and ensure necessary materials and equipment for QA/QC activities are available.
- Ensure all QA/QC activities are performed under the guidelines of all QA/QC procedures and guidelines.
- Maintain project specific QA/QC standards and inspection logs (welding, piping, concrete, structural steel, etc.)
- Provide necessary outgoing correspondence and ensure compliance and/or correctness.
- Participate in review board meetings to resolve non-conformance areas. Follow-up to insure
- corrections are implemented.
- Perform internal/external audits to ensure QA/QC requirements are implemented and/or maintained.
- Coordinate QA/QC program with job site departments and contractors.
- Develop project QA/QC turnover packages.
- Lead completion of project red line drawings
- Maintain ACI tracking.
- Attend and participate in initial orientation and ongoing job specific QA/QC training including but not limited to; project specific processes, procedures, documents and company Quality
- Management System (QMS) and objectives.
Requirements:
- A minimum of 10 years welding experience encompassing field and shop environments, utilizing multiple welding processes. CWI licensure and other welding related training and certifications (boiler, pressure vessel, etc.) are required.
- Knowledge of metal properties, welding processes, testing procedures and tolerances are required.
- Abilities to interact professionally, including instruction, with multiple levels of employee as well as client, subcontractor and other representatives are required.
- Solid knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet software is required.
- Excellent supervisory, communication, and interpersonal skills essential.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to positively influence QA/QC behaviors.
- Proficiency with standard office software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral; capable of effectively presenting to audiences, large and small.
- Willingness and ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment and new challenges.
- Strong cultural sensitivity to manage relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Strong leadership capabilities to deliver results and to strengthen the QA/QC culture.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and coordinate multiple activities that are moderately to highly complex.
Offer:
Position offers an hourly rate plus overtime plus overtime pay.Benefits offered on first day of employment include Medical, Dental and Vision. $125 daily Per Diem. Position is offered to complete a project nearing completion by end of year. 6 week rotations. Company will cover return home accommodations every six weeks for a long weekend (noon Thursday to noon Monday). This project is on a 5-day work week, 10 hours per day.
Working Environment /Physical Demands:
Work is performed in both indoor and outdoor environments with possible exposure to noise, dust, fumes, noxious odors, gases, mechanical and electrical hazards, moving objects, sharp edges, and all types of weather and temperature conditions. Occasional or frequent air travel with overnight stays.
Manual dexterity, sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods of time;
- Frequent climbing stairs / ladders, bending, stooping, crawling, kneeling, reaching, and crouching;
- Occasional work on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures;
