SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, the Network Center Specialist I ensures maximum network availability for over 600 locations by monitoring and troubleshooting a significant number of data circuits. This role accomplishes this through monitoring tools, network administration, troubleshooting, vendor escalation, and internal escalation as required. The NOC Engineer should be capable enough to recognize troubled networks and identify the issue or recommend a temporary workaround until the issue is permanently resolved.
JOB DUTIES
• Monitors the overall network.
• Assists in testing internal/in-house data communications network equipment.
• Serves as an apprentice in installing network equipment and devices.
• Resolves circuit outages via vendor escalations, network administration, and hardware replacements as required.
• Troubleshoots network performance as needed.
• Resolves other network related issues like cabling and power issues related to network equipment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
• Two (2) years of related experience or an equivalent combination.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES
• Strong knowledge of networking concepts.
• Strong knowledge with Cisco and Fortinet router and switch technology.
• Strong knowledge of telecommunications carrier terminology and technology, and experience troubleshooting network performance issues.
• Advanced knowledge of network technologies, connectivity and protocols.
• Experience resolving circuit issues across multiple telecommunications vendors.
• Ability to communicate effectively with telecommunications vendors and end users.
