In this role, you will take on a variety of transportation projects, focusing on drainage and hydraulic design, mentoring junior drainage engineers, and assisting with engineering management tasks. You will apply advanced engineering techniques and use CAE (computer-aided engineering) and CAD (computer-aided design) applications. Experience with hydraulic modeling and drainage calculations is key for success in this role.
Major Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits for hydraulic design and bridge scour assessments, documenting findings.
- Leverage expertise in hydraulic modeling software, including HEC-RAS, SRH-2D, and RMA-2, as well as MicroStation, InRoads, and other relevant drainage software.
- Prepare technical reports, documentation, and design deliverables, including hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, and potentially scour-related structural stability assessments.
- Perform complex engineering tasks efficiently and accurately, applying advanced engineering techniques.
- Extract engineering information from CAD drawings, and prepare engineering calculations, material quantity takeoffs, estimates, surveys, and designs.
- Complete various assignments such as drawings, specifications, and other materials for procurement and construction purposes.
- Collaborate frequently with other engineering disciplines and departments.
- Provide technical guidance to CAD Designers/Drafters, Designers, and junior engineers working on the same project.
- Advise senior management on engineering-related matters when required.
Your Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, with at least 8 years of relevant experience in drainage design and hydrology for culvert systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in CAD and other engineering-related software is essential.
- Knowledge of Georgia drainage and hydraulic requirements is a plus.
- Experience with drainage and hydraulic software such as PondPack, FlowMaster, CulvertMaster, HEC-RAS, HEC-18, and HY-8 is preferred.
