Job Summary:
We are looking for a Retail Planner to be responsible for providing support to the Planning and Buying Teams in building merchandise assortments and regional/category strategies and financial plans that achieve sales and profit objectives. Planning is accountable for the development, coordination, and review of the product assortment by store as well as the financial planning and inventory management of each product category.
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
· Partner with Buyer and DMM in the development and creation of financial plans at the department, category and/or vendor levels.
· Open to buy forecasting of sales, inventory, margin and profitability
· Manage and maximize performance as it relates to sales, profitability, and inventory turn, while mitigating downside risks.
· In partnership with Buyer, build merchandise assortments and regional/category strategies that maximize sales, profit, and inventory turnover, while minimizing risks.
· Coordinate with Buyer to Develop, and review merchandise assortments by Department, Category (District and Store).
· Leadership role in-season management of the assortment including sku management, forecasting, product and store review and analysis resulting in quick response to developing trends, driving sales and profitability while mitigating risks.
· Collaborate with the stores, buying teams and District Managers on the implementation of assortment, forecasting and replenishment strategies.
· Conduct both scheduled and ad hoc merchandise analysis, react and recommend timely action on product and partner with teams on execution.
· Lead in the development of future forecasts based on analysis of sales performance and ideal stock levels for key categories and classifications.
· Aid in the hiring, training, coaching, and performance appraisals of Assistant Planners.
Job Requirements:
· 5+ years’ work experience in retail planning, buying, or category management.
· Bachelors' degree in retail, business or finance preferred.
· Experience in Open to Buy management and forecasting
· Must possess excellent business judgment, strong written and oral communication skills.
· Strong problem solving, analytical skills.
· Business knowledge of retail and merchandising concepts.
· Ability to work in a high paced team environment.
· Computer literate, proficient on Excel and Microsoft based applications.
· Experience working with budgets and forecasting.
· Proven ability to establish strong credibility and build relationships with teams across the board
· Working knowledge of the Retail industry, customer/store requests, and upcoming trends and vendors.
· Highly analytical, capable of turning raw data into information, insights and action.
· Excellent organizational skills, ability to develop and implement best practices.
· Able to prioritize and execute tasks while using a practical, common-sense approach to getting things done in a fast paced, multitask environment.
· Regular travel to retail stores located in Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and occasional travel to other states as business dictates required.
