GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Maintenance Specialist is responsible for overseeing the repair and maintenance of machinery, equipment, and facilities to ensure optimal performance. The main responsibility of the specialist is to ensure that production processes remain uninterrupted due to equipment failure. They must coordinate with the production team to schedule maintenance and repairs, organize the necessary resources, and ensure that the work is carried out safely and efficiently. The Maintenance Specialist must also keep accurate records of maintenance work done and ensure that all equipment is up to code with safety and environmental regulations. They must have knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and be able to troubleshoot problems as they arise. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills are critical to success in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversees the maintenance of machines and equipment and facilities
- Demand Maintenance – Quickly and methodically troubleshoots and corrects abnormal machine conditions or failures
- Preventive Maintenance – Develops annual plans and protocols and implements schedules to prevent failures.
- Predictive Maintenance – Monitors machine conditions to anticipate and prevent failures, with the aim of minimizing maintenance frequency and avoiding unplanned downtime and costs
- Collaborates closely with Production Dept. to minimize impact of PM and repairs on production plans.
- Collaborates with team members and supervisors to diagnose and troubleshoot problems
- Ensures that all repairs and maintenance are completed accurately and quickly
- Manages all related maintenance data and resources
- Utilizes a Maintenance Management program to manage schedules and work history
- Maintains machine and equipment documentation
- Maintains all documentation related to the facility equipment and utilities
- Maintains inventory of spare parts and tools
- Manages all vendor related information and planning and ensures scheduled work is carried out satisfactorily
Collaborates with Engineering Dept. to evaluate, purchase, install and validate new machines and equipment.
- Collaborates with Production, Quality, and Engineering departments to improve quality control and productivity through machine modifications, layout changes, or the fabrication of work aids.
- Implements and adheres to safety regulations and protocols
- Ensures compliance with environmental and industry regulations
- Reports maintenance issues and performance metrics to management
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Minimum:
- Technical certification or Associate’s degree in Industrial Maintenance or similar discipline
- An equivalent mix of education and experience may be considered
Preferred:
- NCCER Certificate
- 3-5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment
- Advanced knowledge of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems and maintenance.
- Knowledge of electro-mechanical troubleshooting techniques and experience with PLC logic.
- Knowledge of facility maintenance requirements, including HVAC, plumbing, and other related work.
- Certification for operation of forklifts, scissor lifts, and similar equipment
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Microsoft Office 365 Suite including Word and Excel
- Experience working with Maintenance Management programs
- Experience working with ERP systems such as JDE or SAP
