We’re on the lookout for a Process Design Engineer to join a dynamic team in Naperville, IL. You’ll be part of a group of talented engineers, designing and implementing projects that push the boundaries of innovation in the Food and Beverage sector.
What You'll Do
- Analyze & Design: Spearhead cost-saving initiatives, energy and utility audits, and process designs.
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct in-depth studies for new product launches and facility upgrades.
- Engineering Fundamentals: Apply your expertise in bulk powder handling, fluid dynamics, heat transfer, and thermodynamics.
- Field Work: Perform measurements to quantify design needs and ensure field installations match project designs.
- Regulations & Codes: Stay ahead of industry codes and regulations to ensure compliance.
- Reporting: Craft comprehensive reports with recommendations to enhance processes.
- Equipment & Infrastructure: Identify equipment capabilities and develop process flow diagrams and layout concepts.
- Team Coordination: Lead design teams, coordinate with other engineering disciplines and vendors.
- Control Narratives: Assist in the programming of processes tailored to customer requirements.
- Contractor Support: Provide on-site support, ensuring contractors adhere to safety and project designs.
- System Commissioning: Test and troubleshoot processes, collaborating with vendor technicians as needed.
- Continuous Learning: Engage in ongoing education to stay at the cutting edge of engineering.
- Documentation: Develop and update project requirements, specifications, and bills of materials.
- Client Interaction: Conduct site visits and prepare detailed reports or updates.
What You Bring
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
- Experience: 5+ years in process design within the agri, beverage, dairy, food, or pet food industries.
- Technical Skills: Strong technical prowess with a commitment to engineering best practices.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with CFIA, FDA, and USDA standards.
- GMP Understanding: Knowledge of food plant GMPs, area designations, and clean design requirements.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office.
- Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, self-motivated, and a team player.
- Communication: Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal skills.
- Flexibility: Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, to meet tight deadlines.
- Travel Ready: Valid driver’s license and passport for client site visits.
- Professional Designation: P.Eng designation is a plus.
