Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) - CVOR

Summary:
We are seeking a Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) for our Cardiothoracic Operating Room (CVOR). The RNFA will assist surgeons during surgical procedures and perform duties according to standardized hospital policies. Responsibilities may also include circulating, scrubbing, and other perioperative duties.
Responsibilities:
- Perform all RNFA duties specific to Cardiothoracic surgery.
- Complete annual performance reviews by physicians.
- Take on additional responsibilities in the Cardiac OR, including circulating and scrubbing.
- Accurately pull case carts and maintain clinical competence by assisting on surgical procedures.
- Participate in the call rotation.
- Engage in preoperative assessment and planning for selected surgical patients.
- Identify safety hazards and initiate appropriate preventive and corrective actions.
- Provide exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging.
- Handle and dissect tissues in collaboration with the surgeon.
- Clamp blood vessels, coagulate bleeding points, ligate vessels, and perform other procedures in collaboration with the surgeon.
- Suture muscle, fascia, subcutaneous, and skin tissue in collaboration with the surgeon.
- Place drains as surgically indicated.
Requirements:
- Licensure: CA RN License and active RNFA license.
- Certifications: CNOR Certificate, BLS, ACLS.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience in a similar role.
- Education: Bachelor s degree required.
Compensation and Benefits:
- Salary: $101,000 - $150,000
