Summary of Position
The Print Shop Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the print production process. The role requires strong leadership, which is crucial in maintaining high production standards, meeting client deadlines, and managing resources effectively to achieve business objectives.
The Print Shop Manager must have a strong background in both management and technical skills. They must know how to effectively manage people, set clear goals, and inspire their team to perform at their best. At the same time, they must also understand print production processes and quality control procedures so that they can ensure that the company delivers high-quality prints on time and on budget.
Essential Job Functions
Production Oversight:
Manage the entire print production process, from prepress to finishing, to ensure projects are completed accurately and on time.
Oversee the scheduling and allocation of resources, including equipment, materials, and personnel, to optimize workflow.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure that printed materials meet quality standards and adhere to client specifications.
Implement quality control procedures and conduct regular inspections to identify and address issues.
Resource Management:
Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure printing materials, inks, and other necessary supplies.
Manage inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock.
Team Leadership:
Recruit, train, and supervise production staff, including machine operators, technicians, and support personnel.
Foster a collaborative and productive work environment and provide coaching and development opportunities to team members.
Budget Management:
Develop and manage the production budget, tracking expenses, and making cost-effective decisions to optimize profitability.
Identify opportunities for cost savings and process improvements. Client Communication:
Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to ensure clear communication with clients regarding project status, timelines, and any potential issues.
Safety Compliance:
Implement and enforce safety protocols to maintain a safe and accident-free production environment.
Stay updated on industry safety regulations and best practices.
Troubleshooting:
Address and resolve production-related issues promptly to minimize disruptions and downtime.
Collaborate with technical staff to troubleshoot equipment problems.
