Job Title: Director - Quality/Metallurgy
Department: Senior Management
Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO)
FLSA Status: Salary, Exempt
Location: Onsite preferred; Remote with 50% travel also acceptable
Summary: The Director of Quality owns Bluewater's Quality Management System (QMS) and will plan, drive, and execute the organization's Quality Strategic Plan. Quality Managers located throughout the BWT facilities will indirectly report to the Director of Quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Responsible for evaluating metallurgy of product and providing guidance on processing as needed with respect to customer quality requirements
• Responsible for continually improving the Quality Management System to the requirements of applicable standards (ISO 9001, CQI-9, IATF 16949, and Nadcap).
• Creates, implements, and maintains organization-wide procedures, work instructions, and forms.
• Conducts high-level internal audits of facilities.
• Collaborates with facility Quality Managers to perform root cause investigation of corrective actions and customer complaints.
• Facilitates continuous improvement projects across the company.
• Collaborates with facility Quality Managers to provide metallurgical review of specimens and/or heat treat processes, as required.
• Capable of evaluating customer prints and specifications for compliance.
• Perform in-depth statistical analysis for both external and internal customers.
• Serves as a Corporate Quality Representative in high level customer meetings, as needed.
• Attends External Quality Audits, as needed.
• Acts as temporary facility Quality Manager, as needed.
• Reviews and executes all customer confidential and non-disclosure agreements.
• Develops strategy for advancing BWT initiatives. Helps define and recommend priorities to leadership. Makes long range planning recommendations.
• Aids in the training and development of facility Quality Staff.
• Ensure effective inter-plant communication.
• Must work in a manner consistent with the BWT quality and production objectives.
• Performs other duties as dictated by position or BWT COO.

Education: At minimum, BS or Master's Degree in Metallurgy. In lieu of this, extensive experience and proven track record will be considered.
Experience: Minimum of ten years' experience in a management position, either in the industry or another engineering/manufacturing environment.
Language Skills: Must be able to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, at all levels.
Mathematical Skills: Strong knowledge of statistical techniques and methodologies.
Reasoning Ability: Must have the ability to work constructively as part of the Senior Management Team and make sound, sometimes tough decisions.

Organizational Relationships: Reports to the COO or designate. The Director of Quality maintains regular interface with the COO, site GMs and their respective management teams, corporate personnel, and customers.
