The EPA IT and Telecommunications Support Program provides comprehensive IT and telecommunications services to the EPA's National Vehicle and Fuel Emissions Laboratory (NVFEL). The Program aims to support the laboratory's mission of conducting emissions testing and ensuring compliance with federal emissions and fuel economy standards. The Program covers various services, including desktop management, data center management, enterprise connectivity, IT security, business support, and application services. To acquire the advantage, Zolon seeks a Database Administrator to support this Program.
Duties:
Database development using the EPA standard software, Microsoft Office, which includes Access, Microsoft's SQL, MySQL, or Oracle.
- Capable of developing integrations with third-party applications and systems utilizing APIs, or custom-developed Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) solutions using Python or other well-supported open-source languages.
- Install, configure, and upgrade Oracle server software and related products
- Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle-related products
- Establish, document, and maintain backup and recovery policies and procedures
- Implement, maintain, and document database security (create and maintain user roles and assign privileges)
- Provide advice on the design, development, and deployment of Oracle systems.
- Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support
- Perform database and application tuning and performance monitoring
- Provide support for Extract Transform Load (ETL) Tasks
Required Experience: Candidates must have the ability to obtain and maintain National Agency Check and Inquiries (NACI) level clearance.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years of MS SQL Server or Oracle (10g or higher) or MySQL database skills
- Experience working with large-scale distributed databases, Database Replication, and Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Experience with performance tuning/optimization, analyzing logs, and troubleshooting issues
- Knowledge of Database Backup and Recovery, Data Encryption, Data Masking, and Database Auditing
- Strong experience with SQL, PL/SQL, T-SQL, Stored Procedures, and Database Triggers
- Good to have experience with ELK stack (Kibana, Elasticsearch)
- Expertise in Data Warehousing, Data Integration, and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes
- Experience in Cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or Microsoft Azure
Required Education and Certification(s):
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or Information Technology, or equivalent experience/combined education.
